Leeds's stunning Waterfront will take centre stage again this summer as preparations for the city's annual celebratory festival start to heat up. Organisers say plans for this year's Waterfront Festival are taking shape and have vowed that the event will be bigger and better than ever before. The showpiece celebration will take place on July 17 and 18 along the waterfront in Leeds. This year's programme for the festival is set to feature craft markets, live music, fun water activities, decorated canal boats and local radio station Radio Aire alongside many more activities. he festival is organised by Aire Action Leeds along with a number of private and public organisations including Welcome To Yorkshire, British Waterways, Leeds City Council and Yorkshire Water. The aim of the festival is to showcase all the waterfront has to offer residents and vistors.
Rachel Clunas, project officer for Aire Action Leeds said: "This year's festival is really coming together we have so much entertainment planned there is something for everyone.
"Thwaites Mill will be the perfect place for children with plenty of family activities. Further up stream at Clarence Dock, Brewery and Granary Wharf there will be lots to see and do, including historic canal boats, live jazz, aerial circus and arts and craft stalls.
"We've all being working so hard to bring this event to the city again this year and now I'm really excited its taking shape. It's going to be brilliant and what's even better is its all free for everyone to enjoy."
